October 20, 2009A Visit From the Tooth FairyOctober 20, 2009 by adminAidan lost his first tooth tonight and is very excited for his first visit from the Tooth Fairy. It was one of his front bottom teeth. I was at the store when Mike helped him pull it out and I was sad to miss seeing it. I guess I get to see most of the firsts while Mike is working so I can't complain :) September 3, 2009OCD? Maybe...September 3, 2009 by adminOk, I am amazed and thrilled. Sean just loaded the breakfast dishes into the dishwasher without being asked! It wasn't just his own dish, it was Aidan's and Serena's too. I guess he has a little OCD like his dad :) August 24, 2009Summer VacationAugust 24, 2009 by adminSo according to Serena, every day is like summer vacation for me since I get to stay home. Pass me a pina colada please... She did admit that I "take care of the kids and stuff." What a funny girl. August 17, 2009Where does the time go?August 17, 2009 by adminIt doesn't seem like it could possibly be ten years since Serena was born. But here she is turning 10. Crazy. We decided to have a special day with Serena, Mom, & Dad and took her to Lagoon for the first time. July 26, 2009Sean turns 3July 26, 2009 by adminI can't believe our baby is three years old! We had a great birthday party for him, a week late since Mike was out of town, on the 24th of July. Most of the family was able to come over for a BBQ and let the kids play with sparklers, although Sean was too scared to hold one. Since we moved to the new house Sean has been obsessed with finding and collecting golf balls. He has quite the collection that he has acquired from the back yard and golf course. Grandma Pam and Grandpa Lee got him a cute smiley face backpack to carry his balls in that says Mr. Happy. It really fits him because he does love to smile. He got a new red scooter from Nana and Grandpa Gordon, and lots of other fun toys. The icing on the cake though was the new golf clubs that Mike picked out for him. He was so excited and is looking forward to going to play with Daddy! January 18, 2009Walking With DinosaursJanuary 18, 2009 by adminFor Aidan's birthday this year, the big 5, we decide rather than getting another toy or something we would plan a special date for just him, Mom & Dad. We got tickets to take him to the Walking With Dinosaurs event at the Energy Solutions Arena. What an amazing show! They basically had life-size robotic dinosaurs and went through the major highlights of dinosaur evolution and extinction. The sets, lighting and music were spectatular, not to mention the dinosaurs! Aidan seemed a bit nervous at first. I think he thought the dinosaurs were going to be real. And although he was excited, he just didn't know what to expect. Once the show got started though he was totally engrossed. He said it was "Awesome!" Of course the highlight for Aidan is always the T-Rex, his favorite dinosaur. There was a mommy T-Rex and a baby. I hope that this a memory he will always have of a great day that we had together. He is such an energetic, loving and sweet boy! January 6, 2009Jumpin' JacksJanuary 6, 2009 by adminToday we had a little "pre-party" for Aidan's birthday with his little friends in the neighborhood. Cute little Kate's birthday is just two days before Aidan's so we did a combined party for the two of them. We went to Jumpin' Jacks here in Springville, had pizza, cupcakes, donuts and played! The kids had a great time. Oh to be five again! December 23, 2008:: Happy Holidays! ::December 23, 2008 by admin
October 20, 2008The Magic KingdomOctober 20, 2008 by adminWe finally make it to Disneyland on the third day of the trip. Which felt entirely too long to the kids. Although Aidan did keep telling us that he wanted to go back to the beach and not go to Disneyland. We chose to go the week after Utah's Fall Break hoping that it would be late enough in the year it wouldn't be very crowded. It was. Not horribly, but more than I had expected. Maybe it was the Halloween promotion they were doing and have been doing. Everything was decorated so fun. The giant Micky Mouse Pumpkin Head at the entrance to the park was really cute. We approached all of the days and rides pretty casually in my opinion because we knew we had 4 days there so we would get to do everything we wanted. So we tried to make it relaxed and easy going. The first ride that we did was the River Adventure on the boats. Great ride for all three of the kids. So we did all the usual rides in that area, the Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland. The obigatory train ride around the park. Later in the day we headed over to California adventure because we had a dinner reservation at Ariel's Grotto restaurant in the park. This was a character meal we had scheduled and it was fabulous! The princesses were all there and came around to the tables to say hi to kids and give the autographs and pictures. Serena was excited to see Ariel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, and Minnie Mouse. Aidan and Sean pretty well kept their distance the entire trip from all of the characters. With one exception. At one point I was able to get him and Sean to take a picture with Winnie the Pooh. He claims he is just shy. I never went to Disneyland when I was a kid - not until high school - so this character meal was fun for me too. It just felt so... so Disney. I loved it. We stayed at the park the rest of the night until they closed and then the kids wanted to go back to the pool and swim. The first REALLY long day. October 19, 2008A Day at the BeachOctober 19, 2008 by adminOur first full day in California we decided to take the kids to the beach. Mike and I have been on several trips to various amazing beaches, with snorkeling and scuba diving. But up to this point we always left the kids with grandparents. Serena and Aidan were really excited to see the beach and the ocean for the first time. Sean was just there for the ride. We went to Newport Beach which wasn't too far of a drive from where we stayed near Disneyland. The day started a little cool and windy, but it didn't slow the kids down at all. They were just so thrilled to be there. Serena and Aidan splashed in the surf and loved it. Aidan would chase the waves down the beach in his scarriest t-rex growl and stomp. Then the waves would chase him back up the beach. He could run, chase the seagulls, yell and scream as loud as he wanted - which wasn't too loud over the sound of the waves. Serena's favorite thing about the beach was climbing on the rocks and searching for sea shells. She made friends with anyone who would listen to her and talk to her about the shells. And with a little help and the kindness of some strangers she had a quite a few for her collection. Sean loved the beach as long as it didn't involve him having to touch the water in any way. The waves scared him so any time they got to close to his space he would scream and freak out. It was even very distubing for him to just walk on the wet part of the sand because it left the possibility open that the water could come into that space. It was so funny to watch this all develop. He is still our little curmudgeon, but he is so cute! Mike and I just kind of hung out with the kids. It wasn't really hot enough for me to want to play in the water. But Mike built a sandcastle with the boys, and helped Serena get started looking for her treasures. It was beautiful, peaceful and a day I will always remember. |
